Project 45 Kick Stand

Gary's frame is single down tube so I wanted to stay away from the bulky big twin kick stand on the front. So we put a weld on ironhead sportster type kick stand on which hides better and also follows the frame at the back.

Project 45 oil cooler

I got this awesome oil cooler from Steve http://www.lillianrosechoppers.com/ but I just could not find a place to put it on Gary's bike. Of course, it works best mounted off the front down tubes, but since the frame is single loop I wanted to keep it clean. I wound up hacking the mounting bracket and putting it under the tranny. It won't work as well down here, but it will still do enough for the bike considering the added oil capacity. I wanted it down here so I can keep all the oil lines close together.

Hardtail 79-81 XL

Here is Justins bike from the previous post

Ironhead XL 79-81 weld on hardtail frame tech

Justin at DP customs sent me photos of his work. http://dpcustomcycles.com/Welcome.html
1- cut frame duh !
2- make slug inserts for extra strength at the top and plug weld them last.
3- clamp your frame down to your table level prior to setting the rear tail level.
4- use bolts at the bottom to help align the tail section these can be left in or removed later after welding.
5- tack weld each end and re check it for alignment and level
6- Finish welding. Recommend using some all thread between the axle plates using 4 nuts to hold the rear width in place until all welds have cooled.

Biltwell seat for Gary's project 45

For Gary's bike today we attached a Biltwell weld on front hinge with a Biltwell tuck n' roll seat. I wanted the springs to run straight with the seat rather than bound and forced in place so we added gussets at level. Now we can use spacers if needed.
